ResMed AirSense 10 vs AirSense 11
ResMed AirSense 10 vs AirSense 11 — Which CPAP Is Right for You?
A complete side-by-side comparison of the two most popular CPAP machines in the world. Specs, features, UAE-specific notes, AED prices and an honest recommendation for every patient type — from CPAP Medical Trading, Business Bay Dubai.
The ResMed AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 are the two most widely prescribed CPAP machines in the world — and the two most common questions we get at our Business Bay showroom are "which one should I buy?" and "is the AirSense 11 worth the extra cost?" The honest answer is that both machines deliver excellent therapy using the same proven ResMed AutoSet algorithm. The differences between them are real but focused — the AirSense 11 brings a more modern interface, better connectivity, a lighter and more energy-efficient design, and new features like AutoSet for Her built in as standard. The AirSense 10 retains advantages of its own: a marginally quieter motor, a larger humidifier chamber, and a lower price point. This guide covers every meaningful difference so you can make the right choice for your therapy, your lifestyle, and your budget.
⚠️ Important UAE note — myAir app: The ResMed myAir app's cellular data upload does not function in the UAE for either the AirSense 10 or AirSense 11. This is a UAE network restriction, not a device fault. Therapy data — including AHI, leak rate, pressure data, and usage hours — can still be accessed by reading the SD card via ResMed's AirView software, or by reviewing summary data on the machine's own screen each morning. If remote app-based data monitoring is important to you, the Yuwell YH-680 is the only machine in our range with a fully UAE-functional app.

Key Differences Explained
🖥️ Display & Interface
The AirSense 11 has a colour LED touchscreen — you swipe and tap to navigate settings. The AirSense 10 uses a colour LCD with a physical dial. Neither is objectively better — patients who prefer touchscreens will prefer the 11, while those who like physical dials often prefer the 10. Both display the same therapy data each morning.
📶 Connectivity
The AirSense 11 has WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G. The AirSense 10 has 4G only — no WiFi, no Bluetooth. In the UAE, neither machine's myAir cellular upload works, so this difference is less significant here than in other countries. However, the AirSense 11's WiFi enables over-the-air software updates, meaning ResMed can push improvements directly to your machine.
👩 AutoSet for Her
AutoSet for Her is a clinically distinct therapy mode designed for women with OSA, who often have different breathing patterns and event types than men. On the AirSense 10, you must purchase a specific "For Her" model to access this mode — it is not present on the standard unit. On the AirSense 11, AutoSet for Her is built into every single machine and can be switched on by your physician at setup.
⚡ Weight & Power
The AirSense 11 is noticeably lighter — 1.13 kg vs 1.25 kg for the AirSense 10. It also uses less electricity: 65W vs 90W. For patients who travel, the lighter weight matters. For patients focused on running costs, the more efficient AirSense 11 uses roughly 28% less power over the lifetime of the machine.
💧 Humidifier Chamber
The AirSense 10 has a slightly larger HumidAir chamber than the AirSense 11 — it holds more water and some patients find it easier to fill. In the UAE's dry, air-conditioned environment, running the humidifier on a higher setting is common, so a larger chamber that runs longer between fills is a practical advantage for some users.
🔇 Noise Level
The AirSense 10 is rated at 26.6 dB — marginally quieter than the AirSense 11's 27 dB. A 0.4 dB difference is not perceptible to the human ear in practice, so this is not a meaningful distinction in real-world use. Both machines are extremely quiet.
🆕 Test Drive & New User Features
The AirSense 11 includes a "Test Drive" feature — a guided mode that runs the machine at a very low pressure to let new patients experience CPAP therapy gradually before starting full therapy. It also includes Care Check-In, which prompts patients to log their comfort and flags issues early. Neither feature exists on the AirSense 10. These are particularly valuable for newly diagnosed patients.
🔧 Tubes & Filters
The AirSense 10 uses the ClimateLineAir 10 heated tube. The AirSense 11 uses the ClimateLineAir 11 — a different connector that is not backwards compatible. Filters are also different: AirSense 10 filters do not fit the AirSense 11. If you are upgrading from an AirSense 10 to an AirSense 11, your existing accessories will not be usable with the new machine.
What's the Same on Both Machines
Both the AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 use the same core ResMed AutoSet algorithm — the world's most clinically proven auto-adjusting CPAP algorithm. Both machines auto-adjust therapy pressure breath by breath to respond to apnea events, hypopneas, flow limitations, and snoring. The therapy efficacy of both machines is equivalent. Both include a built-in heated humidifier and a heated tube in the box. Both are FAA approved for use on aircraft. Both operate on universal voltage (100–240V) and are fully compatible with UAE 220V power. Both carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Both provide EPR (Expiratory Pressure Relief) for more comfortable exhalation. Both track and display the same therapy data — AHI, leak rate, usage hours, and pressure. Both have SD cards for data access. In the UAE, neither machine's myAir cellular data upload is active.
Which Machine Is Right for You?
UAE-Specific Considerations
🇦🇪 myAir App — Neither Works in UAE
The myAir app's cellular data upload does not function in the UAE for either machine. This is one of the most common questions we receive. Therapy data is still fully accessible via SD card — read it using ResMed's AirView software on a computer, or review summary data on the machine screen each morning. The AirSense 11's WiFi connectivity does not restore myAir functionality in the UAE — it enables other features like over-the-air updates, but not myAir data upload.
💧 Distilled Water — Both Machines
Always use distilled water — and only distilled water — in the humidifier of either machine. UAE tap water and most bottled mineral water contain dissolved minerals that cause rapid scale build-up on the humidifier heating plate. Distilled water for CPAP use is available from CPAP Medical Trading and most UAE pharmacies and supermarkets.
🔌 Power Compatibility
Both machines are universal voltage (100–240V, 50/60Hz) and fully compatible with UAE's 220–240V power supply. A standard UAE plug adaptor may be needed depending on the cable supplied with the machine.
🌡️ UAE Climate & Humidity Settings
UAE air conditioning systems run almost year-round and create very dry indoor air — often below 30% humidity. On both machines, we recommend running the heated humidifier on a higher setting (level 4–5 on the AirSense 10, or using Auto Climate Control mode with the heated tube on either machine). This prevents airway dryness and reduces the "rainout" condensation risk in the tube.
Common Questions — AirSense 10 vs AirSense 11
Is the AirSense 11 significantly better than the AirSense 10?
In terms of therapy efficacy, no — both machines use the same proven ResMed AutoSet algorithm and deliver equivalent therapy outcomes. The AirSense 11 is better in terms of technology and features: it has a touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, is lighter, more energy efficient, includes AutoSet for Her on every unit, and has features like Test Drive and over-the-air updates that the AirSense 10 doesn't. Whether those differences justify the AED 300 price premium depends on your priorities.
Can I use my AirSense 10 tube and filters on an AirSense 11?
No. The AirSense 11 uses the ClimateLineAir 11 heated tube, which has a different connector to the ClimateLineAir 10. They are not interchangeable. The AirSense 11 also uses a different filter (Air11 filter) that is not compatible with AirSense 10 filters. If you are upgrading from an AirSense 10 to an AirSense 11, you will need new accessories.
Does the AirSense 11 myAir app work in the UAE?
No. The myAir app's cellular data upload does not work in the UAE for either the AirSense 10 or AirSense 11. This is a UAE-specific network restriction. Therapy data is still fully available via the SD card and ResMed's AirView software, and basic summary data (AHI, usage hours) is visible on the machine's screen each morning. If you specifically need a working app in the UAE, the Yuwell YH-680's BreathCare+ app is the only option in our range that works via WiFi in the UAE.
Which machine is better for a woman with sleep apnea?
The AirSense 11 — AutoSet for Her is built into every unit and can be activated by your physician at setup. AutoSet for Her uses a clinical algorithm specifically designed for female OSA patterns, which differ from male patterns. On the AirSense 10, you would need to purchase the specific "For Her" model to access this mode.
Is the AirSense 10 being discontinued?
As of the time of writing, ResMed continues to manufacture and sell the AirSense 10. It remains one of the most widely used CPAP machines in the world and is fully supported by ResMed with ongoing accessory and filter production. We stock the AirSense 10 at CPAP Medical Trading and do not anticipate any near-term supply issues.
