ResMed AirFit vs AirTouch Cushions
AirFit vs AirTouch Cushions — F20, N20, F30i & N30i Compared
Silicone or memory foam/fabric — the same decision, repeated across four ResMed mask families. Compare AirFit and AirTouch cushions side by side, with real UAE prices and honest guidance on which material actually suits you.
Every ResMed "20" and "i-series" mask frame is designed to accept two different cushion materials without changing anything else — same frame, same headgear, same tubing. AirFit cushions are ResMed's InfinitySeal or AdaptiSeal silicone, the material these masks ship with by default. AirTouch cushions swap that silicone for either UltraSoft memory foam (F20/N20) or ComfiSoft fabric-wrapped silicone (F30i/N30i) — same seal, same frame compatibility, a completely different feel against the skin. This guide compares both materials across all four mask platforms we stock, so you can choose with confidence instead of guessing at the cushion shelf.
⚠️ Magnetic clips notice: The AirFit F20, AirTouch F20, AirFit N20, AirTouch N20, AirFit F30i and AirTouch F30i all use magnetic headgear clips. Patients with pacemakers, cochlear implants or other active medical implants should consult their physician before use. The N30i platform (AirFit or AirTouch) is magnet-free.

F20 — AirFit F20 vs AirTouch F20 Full Face Cushions
Both cushions fit the exact same AirFit/AirTouch F20 frame and headgear interchangeably — the original ResMed "swap the cushion, keep everything else" platform, and the pairing we sell more of than any other cushion comparison in the store.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Seven contour points flex with facial movement all night
- ✓ Fully washable — many patients find this simply feels more hygienic
- ✓ Lower cost per cushion than the foam version
- ✓ Longer replacement interval (3–6 months vs 3 months)
✗ Cons
- ✗ Can leave pressure marks on some facial structures
- ✗ Firmer flex rather than true contouring
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
⚠️ Cleaning note: Never wash the memory foam cushion with water or place it in an ozone cleaner — this breaks down the foam structure. Wipe daily with an alcohol-free CPAP mask wipe and replace every 3 months.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Molds to individual face shape rather than flexing back
- ✓ Often resolves red marks and pressure points from silicone
- ✓ Fits the exact same frame — no new mask needed
- ✓ Breathable, lightweight against the skin
✗ Cons
- ✗ Cannot be washed — wipe only
- ✗ AED 15 more per cushion than silicone
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
💡 Not sure of your size? The F20 Starter Pack (S/M/L, AED 1,000) includes all three silicone cushion sizes so you can find your fit at home before committing to a single size in either material.
N20 — AirFit N20 vs AirTouch N20 Nasal Cushions
The nasal equivalent of the F20 pairing — same interchangeable-cushion logic, scaled to a mask covering the nose only. Unusually, both cushions cost exactly the same here, so the decision comes down purely to feel.
✓ Pros
- ✓ One of ResMed's highest independent fit-study scores
- ✓ Extra nose-bridge padding specifically reduces red marks
- ✓ Fully washable daily
- ✓ Same price as the foam version — decide on feel alone
✗ Cons
- ✗ Some patients still feel a pressure line on the nose bridge
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
👐 Wear loosely: Memory foam requires minimal headgear tension to seal. Overtightening collapses the foam and reduces both comfort and seal quality — if you're leaking, reposition rather than tighten.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Softer, more contouring feel than silicone
- ✓ Popular fix for a nose-bridge pressure line from the silicone version
- ✓ Identical price to AirFit N20 — no cost penalty to try it
✗ Cons
- ✗ Wipe only — cannot be washed
- ✗ Same 3-month replacement as silicone here, but shorter-lived if overtightened
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
F30i — AirFit F30i vs AirTouch F30i Full Face Cushions
A different generation of ResMed engineering to the F20 — an UltraCompact, under-the-nose design with a top-of-head tube connection. AirTouch F30i uses ComfiSoft, a fabric-wrapped hybrid cushion — not memory foam — so its running cost sits much closer to silicone than the F20/N20 foam pairing.
📦 Cushion currently sold with the full mask only: We don't yet stock the AirFit F30i or AirTouch F30i cushion as a standalone replacement part — both ship as part of the complete mask (frame, headgear and cushion together). Message us on WhatsApp to check current stock or cushion-only availability.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Under-nose seal removes the classic red mark between the eyes
- ✓ Wide, open field of view
- ✓ Fully washable
- ✓ Lower-cost starting point on this platform
✗ Cons
- ✗ Cushion not yet sold as standalone replacement part here
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
ℹ️ Two AirTouch F30i versions exist: the original AirTouch F30i Clear, and the newer AirTouch F30i Comfort, which adds a fully fabric-wrapped frame to match the fabric cushion (not just a fabric-surfaced cushion on a standard silicone frame). Both use the same ComfiSoft seal technology and 3-month replacement interval.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Soft, breathable fabric surface — closer to sleepwear than medical equipment
- ✓ Running cost close to silicone (3 months, not a 30-day foam cycle)
- ✓ Same under-nose seal geometry as AirFit F30i
✗ Cons
- ✗ Cushion not yet sold as standalone replacement part here
- ✗ Newer mask — Comfort variant availability may vary
- ✗ Magnetic clips — not for implant patients
N30i — AirFit N30i vs AirTouch N30i Nasal Cushions
The nasal-cradle version of the same top-of-head platform as the F30i. AirTouch N30i was actually the mask that introduced ResMed's ComfiSoft fabric cushion technology before it reached the F30i. Both versions are magnet-free — the platform to consider first if you have a pacemaker or other implant.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Magnet-free — safe starting point for pacemaker/implant patients (confirm with your physician)
- ✓ Widest size range of any mask in this guide
- ✓ Fully washable, lowest-cost cushion in this comparison
- ✓ Open field of view, no forehead bar
✗ Cons
- ✗ Nasal cradle fit takes some adjustment if switching from a traditional nasal mask
📦 Cushion currently sold with the full mask only: The AirTouch N30i cushion isn't yet listed as a standalone replacement part on our site. For a cushion-only order or to confirm current mask stock and pricing, reach out on WhatsApp.
✓ Pros
- ✓ Entire frame wrapped in soft, moisture-wicking fabric — not just the cushion
- ✓ Magnet-free, same as AirFit N30i
- ✓ Running cost close to silicone — 3-month cycle, not a 30-day foam disposable
✗ Cons
- ✗ Cushion not yet sold as standalone replacement part here
- ✗ Smaller size range than AirFit N30i (no Wide option)
Which Material Is Right for You?
Common Questions — AirFit vs AirTouch in the UAE
Can I put an AirTouch cushion on a mask I bought as AirFit, or vice versa?
Yes, on every mask in this guide. AirFit and AirTouch cushions for the F20, N20, F30i and N30i are built to snap onto the exact same frame and headgear — that's the entire point of ResMed selling them as separate accessories. You don't need a new frame or headgear to switch materials, just the alternate cushion in your existing size.
Is memory foam or fabric actually better than silicone?
Neither is objectively better — they solve different problems. Silicone (AirFit) is washable and usually the lower-cost option. Memory foam (AirTouch F20/N20) and ComfiSoft fabric (AirTouch F30i/N30i) both contour more to individual facial shape and often reduce red marks or pressure points, at the cost of being wipe-only rather than washable.
How often do I need to replace an AirTouch cushion?
Every 3 months across the full AirTouch range — F20, N20, F30i and N30i alike. This matches the replacement interval on your own AirTouch N20 product page spec table. As with any cushion, replace sooner if you notice splitting, reduced seal quality, or visible wear.
Can I wash my AirTouch cushion to make it last longer?
No — this applies to both the foam and fabric versions. Memory foam breaks down structurally if washed or exposed to water, and should never go in an ozone cleaning device. ComfiSoft fabric cushions should be wiped, not soaked, to protect the fabric layer's bond to the silicone underneath. A daily wipe with a CPAP-safe wipe or damp cloth is the correct routine for any AirTouch cushion.
I have a pacemaker — which of these masks can I use?
The N30i platform (AirFit or AirTouch) is magnet-free by design and is generally the safer starting point to discuss with your physician. The F20, N20 and F30i platforms all use magnetic headgear clips, so consult your doctor before choosing any of those three — or ask us about magnet-free alternatives like the F&P Evora or BMC F4.
Can I see and try both cushion types in person before buying?
Yes. We stock AirFit and AirTouch cushions for the F20 and N20 at our walk-in showroom in Business Bay, and can show you the F30i and N30i masks in person. No appointment needed — open Monday–Friday 9AM–5PM, Saturday 11AM–3PM.
