CMT HME Filter โ Overview
The CMT HME Filter is a passive inline Heat Moisture Exchange cartridge for standard CPAP and BiPAP machines โ providing waterless humidification without a humidifier tank. It sits inline between the CPAP tube and the mask elbow: wide end connects to the mask, narrow end to the tube. As you exhale, the filter core captures heat and moisture; on inhalation, it returns that moisture to the therapy air, reducing dryness without any water, electricity, or tank to clean. It is a practical solution for patients who travel without their humidifier, use a machine without a built-in humidifier, or want a backup for nights away from home.
Replace weekly for best performance โ or sooner if dryness returns. Store in a sealed airtight bag between uses as the filter begins absorbing ambient moisture as soon as the package is opened. Do not attempt to clean the HME โ it is disposable. Not compatible with AirMini setup packs (AirMini uses HumidX, not inline HME) or masks with short tubes (AirFit P10, AirFit N20).

โ ๏ธ Short-tube masks not compatible. AirFit P10 and AirFit N20 have short tubes at the mask that prevent correct HME positioning. AirMini uses its own proprietary HumidX system โ standard inline HME is not compatible with AirMini setup packs.

Can I use this with my DreamStation or AirSense if I travel without the humidifier?
Yes โ this is one of the most practical use cases for an inline HME. Remove your humidifier unit for travel and use this inline filter between your mask and tube to maintain moisture without needing distilled water or a water tank.
How long does one filter last?
Typically 5โ7 nights. Store in a sealed bag between uses โ leaving it open to air immediately begins reducing its effective life. Replace sooner if you notice dryness returning before the week is up.
