The DreamStation 2 Pollen Filter โ The Foundation of Your Machine's Filtration
The DreamStation 2 uses a two-filter system, and the reusable pollen filter is the mandatory foundation of that system. DreamStation 2 machines should never be run without a foam pollen filter in place โ the machine requires it for operation. Made of blended synthetic fibres in a grey plastic carrier, it forms the outer stage of the DreamStation 2's filtration, capturing larger airborne particles โ pollen, dust, pet hair, lint, and fibres โ before air reaches the finer inner disposable ultra-fine filter or the motor.
Unlike the disposable ultra-fine filter which simply snaps off and gets discarded, the pollen filter is designed for repeated use. Rinse it under warm running water every two weeks, gently squeezing to work water through the foam, then allow it to air dry fully โ at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated area โ before reinstalling. Reinstalling a damp filter is one of the most common patient maintenance errors: the wet foam restricts airflow significantly, forces the motor to work harder, and creates an ideal environment for mould growth inside the machine. Replace the filter every 6 months or whenever the foam shows visible damage, permanent discolouration that doesn't clear with washing, or compression that doesn't recover when dry.
The DreamStation 2 pollen filter has a different form factor from the DreamStation 1 pollen filter โ the two are not interchangeable. If you are transitioning from a DreamStation 1 to a DreamStation 2, ensure you are ordering DS2-specific filters.
How does the ultra-fine filter attach to the pollen filter?
The disposable ultra-fine filter (light blue casing) snaps onto the base of the grey pollen filter carrier. The two are inserted into the machine together as a single unit. To change the ultra-fine filter, slide both out, unsnap the used ultra-fine, snap on the new one, and reinsert. The white filter material inside the blue casing is permanently attached and cannot be removed separately.
Is this the same filter as the DreamStation 1 pollen filter?
No โ the DreamStation 1 and DreamStation 2 use pollen filters with different dimensions and carrier designs. They are not interchangeable. If ordering for a DreamStation 1, purchase the DreamStation 1 reusable filter instead.
