Philips Respironics DreamStation CPAP and BiPAP Machines OEM Reusable Filter
The Philips Respironics DreamStation CPAP & BiPAP OEM Reusable Filter is the washable outer pollen/foam filter for the original DreamStation 1 CPAP and BiPAP machines. It forms the first stage of the DreamStation 1's two-stage filtration โ capturing larger particles including pollen, dust, and pet dander before air reaches the disposable ultra-fine inner filter. Rinse with warm water monthly and allow to air dry completely before reinstalling. Replace every 6 months or when damaged. Not compatible with DreamStation 2. Must be used alongside the DreamStation 1 disposable ultra-fine filter (sold separately) for complete filtration. Pack of 1.

DreamStation 1 OEM Reusable Pollen Filter โ Required Protection for Your DreamStation
The DreamStation 1 (original) reusable pollen filter is a required component for machine operation โ the DreamStation cannot run without it correctly installed. Made of blended synthetic foam fibres in a grey plastic carrier, it forms the outer stage of the machine's filtration, capturing the larger airborne particles โ pollen, pet hair, dust, and lint โ that would otherwise reach the motor and internal components. Every breath drawn into the DreamStation 1 passes through this filter first.
Being reusable, it requires active maintenance rather than simple replacement. Rinse under warm running water every two weeks, squeezing gently to work the water through the foam. Do not use soap, detergent, or anything other than clean water โ cleaning agents leave residue in the foam that can be inhaled during therapy and may degrade the synthetic fibres over time. After rinsing, shake out excess water and leave to air dry completely โ a minimum of 24 hours โ before reinserting. A damp filter significantly restricts airflow and creates mould conditions inside the machine housing. Replace the filter every 6 months, or sooner if the foam shows permanent discolouration that doesn't clear with washing, structural compression, or any visible tearing.
The DreamStation 1 pollen filter has a different profile from the DreamStation 2 pollen filter and they are not interchangeable. If you are planning to upgrade from DS1 to DS2, the filters do not carry over. This listing is for DreamStation 1 machines only.
Can I use soap when washing this filter?
No โ use warm water only. Soap and detergent residue remains in the foam after rinsing and can be inhaled during therapy. Detergents can also degrade the synthetic foam fibres over time, shortening filter life. Warm water alone is sufficient to remove the particle load from the filter surface.
What happens if I run my DreamStation 1 without this filter?
Running the DreamStation 1 without the pollen filter allows unfiltered room air directly into the motor and therapy circuit. This accelerates motor wear from particulate accumulation, contaminates the humidifier chamber, and delivers unfiltered air โ including allergens, dust, and pet dander โ into your airway at positive pressure all night. Always keep a spare filter on hand.
