Philips Amara View Replacement Headgear โ Overview
The Philips Respironics Amara View Replacement Headgear is the genuine soft fabric headgear designed exclusively for the Amara View Full Face CPAP Mask. The Amara View is defined by its under-nose, one-piece silicone cushion โ a design that leaves the nose bridge completely uncovered and delivers the widest open field of view of any full face mask in the Philips range. The headgear is engineered to support this cushion geometry: it holds the frame securely in the under-nose position without the wide forehead band and cheek strap architecture of traditional full face headgear.
The Amara View headgear uses a 4-point clip connection โ two clips at the upper frame and two at the lower frame โ that attach with a firm press and release cleanly with a squeeze. The slim strap design keeps facial contact minimal, and with no forehead band in the system, patients retain a completely clear line of sight above the nose for reading, using a phone, or watching television before falling asleep. The clip-based system contains no magnetic components, making it a strong option for patients with pacemakers or other active implants who require a full face mask.
Available in Standard and Small. As with all CPAP headgear, the elastic fibres in the soft fabric straps gradually lose their tension over months of nightly wear and washing โ leading to the gradual overtightening cycle where patients tighten straps further to compensate, causing discomfort and paradoxically worsening seal performance. Replacing headgear every 6 months breaks this cycle and restores the Amara View to its correctly tensioned, comfortable fit.

When to Replace Your Amara View Headgear
- The fabric straps have stretched and can no longer hold the under-nose cushion firmly in position
- Cushion leaks have increased despite the cushion being recently replaced and in good condition
- The clips feel loose and no longer engage with a firm, secure click
- Morning facial or strap marks have worsened โ a sign of compensatory overtightening
- It has been 6 months or longer since the last headgear replacement
๐๏ธ Why the Amara View headgear is different from traditional full face headgear: Most full face CPAP masks use an over-the-nose cushion that requires a forehead support bar and wide cheek straps to hold the cushion bridge against the nose. The Amara View's under-nose one-piece cushion completely removes this requirement โ no forehead band, no cheek straps, and significantly less total headgear fabric on the face. The headgear is correspondingly slim and minimal, keeping the mask's open-view advantage fully intact.
๐งผ Headgear care: Hand wash weekly with mild soap and warm water. Lay flat to air dry away from direct sunlight. Never machine wash or tumble dry โ heat and mechanical agitation degrade the elastic fibres in the fabric straps and accelerate the loss of tension that leads to compensatory overtightening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this headgear compatible with any other Philips full face masks?
No โ the Amara View headgear is designed exclusively for the Amara View full face mask. It is not compatible with the DreamWear Full Face, Amara Gel, or any other Philips mask, as each uses a different frame geometry and clip attachment system.
Is this headgear safe for patients with pacemakers?
Yes โ the Amara View headgear uses a standard 4-point clip system with no magnetic components. It is one of the few full face mask headgear options that is fully safe for patients with pacemakers, cochlear implants, and other active medical implants. Always confirm with your physician before use.
Why does a full face mask headgear have no forehead band?
Traditional full face masks seal over the nose bridge, which requires a forehead support bar to hold the cushion against the nose at pressure. The Amara View's one-piece under-nose cushion seals below the nostrils, completely bypassing the nose bridge โ removing the structural need for a forehead support and giving patients a fully open line of sight above the nose.
Which size should I choose โ Standard or Small?
Standard fits the majority of adult patients. Small is for patients with a smaller head circumference who find the Standard headgear too loose even at maximum tightness. If you are unsure, contact our team via WhatsApp on +971 56 593 5931 for sizing guidance before ordering.
